Orange and green flashing! 5.07ct Mexican Fire Opal!
Don't miss this crazy opal! You've got a crystal clear body with natural fractures that give this piece amazing character with a slight frosting around the top edge, and this slightly frosted area is where the magic happens. Unlike most fire opals, this example glitters in both red and green flashing! And even though you can see these colors in the photos, in hand the colors are much more vibrant. Opals are made of silica sphere formations as apposed to the crystalline formations of other gemstones. This silica structure is the reason why opals have less density than other gems giving them a fantastic size to weight ratio. This means the 5.07 carat weight of this gem translates to an impressive 15.5mm x 11.9mm x 5.6mm! And it's untreated!
Gems come with a complimentary gem jar for display and protection, size permitting. All treatments are disclosed*, and all weights and sizes are approximate. Listed gemstones are greatly magnified, and minor details that present themselves in the photo may not be visible with the naked eye. There may be slight color differences due to individual monitor settings and capabilities. *Except for topaz. As irradiation is the standard treatment for this gem type, they should be assumed to be as such, unless stated otherwise in the description.
