Pablo Picasso Portfolio Book Barcelona, 1963
Paris, au Vent d'Arles, 1963. Pablo Picasso, with forewords by Jaime Sabartes. This portfolio contains only the lithograph featuring a portrait of Sabartes by Picasso using crayon. This album was published to mark the opening of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona in May 1963, following the donation of Sabartés' collection of works by Picasso. In the preface, titled "De la Llotja au Museu Picasso," Sabartés reflects on the days when Pablo Ruiz studied at the "Llotja," the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, located not far from the museum. The museum showcases twelve watercolors and pastels, created between 1899 and 1904, which are beautifully reproduced in this album. The preface also includes a reproduction of a 1938 drawing of Sabartés as a monk. The album features a blue cloth cover adorned with multicolored lines and Picasso's signature in white.
