Green Malachite Aztec Calendar Teotihuacan Stone
This is a 3.7-inch handcrafted Aztec Calendar made from green malachite stone and represents the intricate and symbolic Piedra del Sol, or Stone of the Sun. The original Aztec Calendar, a massive basalt monolith measuring over 11 feet in diameter and weighing approximately 24 tons, was discovered on December 17, 1790, in Mexico City. This ancient timekeeping system was designed by the Mexica civilization to track celestial movements, the duration of months, and the cycles of time. At its center is the carved face of Tonatiuh, the fifth solar god, who was believed to govern the heavens. Scholars regard the Aztec Calendar as more precise than the Julian Calendar. This compact replica is a greate addition for collectors of the rich cultural heritage and advanced timekeeping of the Aztecs.
