Details: This scene is taken from an actual “freeze-frame” from the Looney Tunes cartoon short entitled, Devil May Hare. Released in 1954 under the direction of Robert McKimson, this cartoon classic features Tasmanian Devil on the loose in his first appearance in a Warner Bros. cartoon.
The opening scene features Bugs Bunny ducking into his hole and looking in the encyclopedia to find out the definition of a Tasmanian Devil. He reads out-loud, “Q, R, S, T..…. Tasmanian!…. Here it is..…. ‘A strong, murderous beast--- jaws powerful as a steel-trap--- has ravenous appetite--- eats tigers, lions, elephants, buffaloes, donkeys, hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses, giraffes, octopuses, moose, ducks”…. then, the Tasmanian Devil appears next to him and interjects “Rabbits!!!” Bugs next convinces Taz that he would not satisfy his appetite and tries to help him find his dinner, tricking him in a series of gags.
Finally, Bugs calls and has a lonely lady Devil flown in on an airplane, with the “object of matrimony,” and plays a minister pronouncing them “Devil and Devilish.” The couple then rides off in the airplane that She-Devil came on.
