Note:. Sarouk rugs have been very popular in the U.S. since well before the turn of the century (1900's). It is believed that starting around the 1900's, Sarouk patterns were designed by the westerners to satisfy western taste. Some of the best quality Sarouks were produced by Samuel Teryakian, the on-location representative of Tafshanjian of New York, in Persia, whose production lasted until the late 1950's. This is a remarkable Tafshanjian-Sarouk with a captivating floral pattern.
